The safety and wellbeing of all those participating in inaugural events . . .

Today I pray for The safety and wellbeing of all those participating in inaugural events. This year, 2013, will not only mark 50 years since the famous “I have a Dream” speech given by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but tomorrow will be monumental as the President of the United State is sworn in for his second term on Dr. MLK holiday. With an estimated 1.8 million people in attendance for the 2009 inauguration, we can only speculate that there will be well over a million people flocking to D.C. tomorrow for this historic event. Whether or not we agree with the political party and its decisions is besides the point when praying for our fellow  Americans’ safety and wellbeing as they seek to participate in this event.

Therefore, today I pray for The safety and wellbeing of all those participating in inaugural events. Father, I pray that Your hedge of protection will be around those traveling. That even in this event and situation, Your love and Your presence will be known. I pray that You will help our country return to You and to honoring You in all that we do. I pray that You will draw people close to You even as many churches will be at the event, sharing Your word and Your love. I pray for the churches in D.C. that are truly seeking to honor You and to exemplify Your nature of love and truth. I pray that You will raise them up as beacons in that city and use them to draw leaders close to You. I pray for the secret service, military, and other civil officials that will have to work that event. I pray that You protect them as they seek to protect and serve their country. Father, I pray that You protect our President, Vice President and their families and draw them close to You. Father, You said that You will cause all things to work for our good because we love you and are called according to Your purposes. So even in all things that are going on economically and politically, work it out for the good of Your people. Bless Your people and protect them. May they be light in the midst of darkness and may they be the salt of the earth. Use Your people tomorrow and protect those participating in this event Lord. Let us not grow weary in well doing. In Jesus Name, Amen.
