Today I pray for anyone that has been affected by cancer. Whether its been a loved one, a neighbor, a friend, or a coworker, almost all of us have been affected by cancer in some way or another. This terrible disease that seeks to rob people of energy, identity and health has ravaged many families and broken many hearts. To all who have been affected some way or another, my prayers are for you. I have personally experienced the sting of cancer when my mother lost her battle to it at the age of 43.
Today I pray for all affected by cancer. For those who have fought the disease, I pray that you remain victorious. May the disease never return and may it bow to the name and power of Jesus Christ in your life. For those who are currently fighting cancer, I pray that the Father of all comfort brings you comfort, hope and endurance. That having done all, you will stand. Stand on His promises of love and healing and believe for the impossible. Whether you are fighting or have been victorious, God is not through with you yet. I pray that He restores your body and persona with His blessed assurance of hope and peace. For everyone else, including those already mentioned, ever affected by cancer, I pray for your healing. Father, I believe and hold fast to the truth that there is a name above cancer . . . the name of Jesus. I cover all those who read this and those who never read this with the love, the healing, the hope, the joy and the life that are only found in Christ. I pray that you will draw them close to you in those seasons of despair and that you will be the balm of healing that their hearts and bodies need. Father, for those of us who have lost loved ones to cancer, I ask for help. Help us to grieve but not despair. Help us to trust You even when we cannot see you and are disappointed in the way You allow things to occur. Help us not to throw away our confidence in You and in Your power. We need You. Pick us up from the broken situations and make some kind of sense of our lives. In those places of void and pain, I ask that you bring joy and companionship. Help us to forgive. Help us to live. Help us to go on with life with peace and joy knowing that even this must work for our good (Romans 8:28). We need a miracle and miracles come from You. We need You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
